An Alter

A house spider drops down
upon an alter of hide,
pieces of bone, stone,
clay, bits of shell,
glass, feathers, porcupine quills,
teeth, and antlers.
The thin cable of web
touches the deer hair; it pauses
before continuing to a kill.
